EXTENDED INFORMATION REGARDING COMODO INTERNET SECURITY

COMODO Internet Security is actually the best Online and Firewall protection you can actually find on the Internet and best of all its complete free for both, Residential User and Business Users. However, the Default Settings for COMODO Internet Security MIGHT frustrate some users as has been the case for some of our Computer Repairs Customers, that's why this tutorial is up here for all to see. CIS' Default Settings prompts you for permission each time that a program tries to modify any registry settings, create a new directory, modify ANY existing files on your hard drive (even if the files being modified is part of the program's files) and most of all, you are prompted with the option to set CIS to "Installation Mode" before installing a new software. Since every one is not an advanced user or understand the fundamentals of computer software and can determine what to allow and what to NOT allow, the optimal setting for Comodo Internet Security is to set the DEFENSE+ setting to Disable, personally speaking most users dont need the DEFENSE+ setting active, all what most users need is the Firewall Feature (that keeps hackers out of your computers) and the Antivirus feature. Now that we have set the DEFENSE+ setting to Disable, you should not be getting any more prompts each time that any sotwares installed on your computer wants to take a different action.

As for the FIREWALL feature, I would leave it at "Safe Mode" but this means that each time that a program like Firefox updates it self Comodo will prompt you if you want to allow this program to access the internet the next time that the updated programs tries to connect. If this bothers you for some reason, you can set the firewall slider under Advansed -> Firewall Behavior Settings to Learning Mode while keeping your protection at ultimate level. This setting will allow any OUTGOING traffic from any programs out, but will block any unsolicited, unwanted hacker from establishing a connection with your computer which is what you want and is what a good firewall suppose to do.

So now, with these 2 settings modified you can now enjoy the uptost protection of COMODO Internet Security without any confusing prompts/permission dialogboxes.

TIP:
If you want, CIS can be set completely automated in such as way that if it finds a virus in the future as you surf the web it it stops it automatically instead of you having to click at the REMOVE button from its Red Alert. To accomplish this optional change, open up the COMODO user interface, click on the Miscellaneous tab, then click on Settings and then click on the Parental Control Tab. Check "Enable Password Protection for the following settings", then cleck the box "suppress the antivirus alerts if the password protection is enabled" then click on the PASSWORD tab, enter a new password, confirm it and then click on OK. You are all see. Just be carefull NOT to forget the password as it is unrecoverable.
You might want to automate the Virus Scanner this way if you have a user that is very innexperienced and you fear that he/she might click on the "Ignore" box on the virus warnings rather than clicking on REMOVE.

Also, running a complete virus scan at least once every month or week sounds like a good idea.
